Scope of refurbishment & retrofit work

A full machine rebuild & CNC retrofit of a Kearns Richards NC100 Horizontal Borer.

The mechanical refurbishment included regrinding of all slideways, regrinding of the Quill, regrinding of the Spindle nose & taper, refurbishment/replacement of axis drive ballscrews & anchor bearings, rebuild of the spindle drive gearbox & power drawbar, refurbishment of the hydraulic system & counterbalance, and replacement of all lubrication systems.

Electrically, the machine was retrofitted with a new Heidenhain iTNC530 Control, new Axis Servo Drives, a new electrical cabinet complete with all new control gear and completely re-wired.

In addition, the machine has been fitted with a new Renishaw Inspection Probing System.

This machine was re-engineered & rebuilt as part of our ongoing "stock rebuild" programme; on completion of the rebuild, the machine was sold to a major UK Subcontractor and now produces high precision components for the Oil & Power Generation industries.
