Scope of machine refurbishment & CNC retrofit work

A full machine refurbishment & CNC retrofit of an OMBA type RAM 90 CNC Vertical Borer.

The machine refurbishment included regrinding of all slideways, replacement of axis drive ballscrews & anchor bearings, refurbishment of the main Timken table bearings, rebuild of the table drive gearbox, refurbishment of the Automatic Toolchanger, refurbishment / replacement of hydraulic systems & counterbalance and replacement of all lubrication systems. In addition, the machine has been fitted with a new totally enclosed & interlocked Operator Guarding System and a new Swarf Conveyor.

Electrically, the machine was retrofitted with a new Fanuc 0i CNC Control package, new Digital Axis Servo Drives, a new electrical cabinet complete with all new control gear and completely re-wired.

The machine has also been fitted with a new Renishaw Tool Probing System.

This machine was re-engineered & rebuilt as part of our ongoing "stock rebuild" programme; on completion of the rebuild, the machine was sold to a major UK Precision Machinist (Mogul Engineers Ltd) and now produces high precision components for the Oil & Power Generation industries.
