Scope of machine refurbishment & CNC retrofit work

EES were contracted to provide a partial machine refurbishment & full CNC retrofit of this Schiess Froriep type FB225 Floor Borer; in addition the machine was re-located to a different area of the factory.

In terms of the re-location, EES stripped the machine into suitable elements for transportation, re-installed on to new foundations in a new purpose-built factory, levelled, aligned and re-commissioned.

Mechanically, the scope of work included:
• Full refurbishment of the Rotary & Sliding Table, including re-engineering of the rotary axis to 
   accept a centre-mounted encoder for position feedback.
• Refurbishment of the spindle, including overhaul of the spindle drive gearbox, power drawbar and
   hydrostatic spindle bearings.
• Refurbishment of the Head Counterbalance System,  including replacement of the C/B strain gauge
   system.
• Replacement of the main Hydrostatic Pump Unit and refurbishment of the Oil Chiller
• Refurbishment of all Heads  

The CNC retrofit comprised fitting of a new Siemens 840D Control, refurbishment of the spindle motor, new digital axis servo drives, all new measurement feedback systems, a new electrical cabinet complete with all new control gear and a complete machine re-wire.
