Scope of CNC retrofit work
A full CNC retrofit of a high precision SIP 740 Jig Borer.
Despite being almost 30 years old, the machine is in superb mechanical condition, producing high precision Jigs & Fixtures for the Aerospace Industry. The problem was that the old SIP Control & electrics were obsolete & unreliable. EES provided a full CNC & electrical retrofit comprising a new Heidenhain TNC320 Control, new AC brushless Axis Servo Drives, a new electrical cabinet complete with all new control gear, new Linear Scale Feedback Systems and a complete machine re-wire.

One of the major requirements of this retrofit was that the Client wanted to retain the ability to position the X/Y axes under CNC control and then manually drill holes using the existing Quill Feed Handwheel (a fundamental requirement when Jig Boring); working closely with Heidenhain UK, special software was developed to allow this feature to be retained.
The retrofit was carried out on-site, on time and with no disruption to the Clients production, as can be seen from the attached Client Testimonial.
