 Scope of machine refurbishment & CNC retrofit work

A full machine refurbishment & CNC retrofit of a Tacchi model HD3 / 140 Heavy Duty CNC Lathe

The machine refurbishment included regrinding of all slideways, refurbishment of the Z axis drive rack, full refurbishment of the Apron including replacement of the twin drive pinions, replacement of the X & Y axis drive ballscrews & anchor bearings, full refurbishment of the Headstock & Spindle including new spindle bearings, replacement of the 4 jaw Chuck with new, full refurbishment of the Tailstock, Baruffaldi Indexing Turret, Live Spindle Milling Unit, Grinding Unit, auto Pallet Loading System and 3 point Steadies; the hydraulic, lubrication & coolant systems have all been fully overhauled, including the coolant filtration system. In addition, the machine has been fitted with a new, fully interlocked, Perimeter Guarding System for PUWER compliance.

The CNC retrofit comprised fitting of a new Siemens 840D SL Control, new Siemens DC Spindle Drives for both the Main Spindle & Live Spindle Milling Unit, new Siemens Digital Axis Servo Drives (X, Y, Z & C), a new electrical cabinet complete with all new control gear and a complete machine re-wire.

This is the largest Lathe rebuilt, to date, by EES and the first machine to be completed in our new premises; at a total length of 22,000mm and weighing close to 50 Tonnes, this project clearly demonstrates that EES can handle even largest of machine rebuild / retrofit projects, in-house.
